Espoo Expos Ry is a volunteer-run organization, financed by its members and sponsors. Newcomers can attend tryout practices for 2 weeks before making a decision on joining the club.
CLUB FEES
Club fee: an annual administrative fee, the same for all members. (40€/year)
Team fee: covers shared equipment, field reservations (~55–75 practices, 15–25 games per season), winter hall rental (~30 practices), and federation fees for league participation. The amount depends on the team: approximately 325€/year for Fat Lizard League players, approximately 515€/year for Superbaseball League players.
Practice fee: for new members not yet allocated to a team, or practicing members not participating in official season games. 100€/summer outdoor practices (2026), ~100€/winter indoor practices (2026/2027). Practice fees paid are deducted from the team fee upon joining a team roster.
Additional Expenses
The following costs are paid directly by the player, not to the club:
Federation license: required for participation in official games, paid directly to the Finnish Baseball and Softball Federation (SBSL). (58€/year for 2025–2026)
Insurance: can be obtained bundled with the SBSL license through the federation’s partner, or arranged independently. (~120€/year)
Personal equipment: the club provides practice equipment (balls, nets, tees, bases) and teams share common gear including bats, helmets, and catcher’s equipment. This means you can start playing with very little of your own. A personal baseball glove is typically the first individual purchase, but the club always has spare gloves for beginners.
Transportation: for traveling to away games.
The club board publishes a financial report for members once a year. For detailed breakdowns, contact your team manager.
